According to the Ministry of Health, metapneumovirus is not a new disease

• In recent days, there have been reports in the media and social networks that metapneumovirus infection is spreading in a number of countries around the world and that this disease is more dangerous than COVID-19.

❓ So, how reliable is this information? What is metapneumovirus infection in general? What are its signs? How does the procedure work?

The head of the department of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Peace and Public Health Committee, Rustam Ikramov, answered these questions from the press service of the Ministry of Health:

"The metapneumovirus is a known infection that was first discovered in 2001," the expert said.  The disease is primarily transmitted by airborne droplets or, in some cases, by contact with contaminated surfaces.
